@Lilly et alteri, would you mind
However since you've already baited me, here's my 12 cents...
This statement is completely wrong. The strongest DPS in game (not talking about a 20 second low HP boss kill to boost your ego but actual sustainable damage) is Assasin, followed by Gladiator (in dualwield setup) and then Spiritmaster. Just because there are very few if any good ones around these days does not mean otherwise. Sorcerer simply gives the false impression of being top as it is rather easy to reach capped stats with it compared to most other classes and is also technically much less intensive to play in PvE.

There is a number of reasons why certain classes appear to be at a disadvantage when put up against an easy mode class (PvE wise)
such as Sorcerer.

low-tier class

- Most players in the game focus on PvP equipment first and foremost, and that currently takes quite a lot of time and resources to obtain (there is not much left if anything to devote to PvE).
- All physical DPS have a much harder time reaching proper stat values compared to magic classes (equivalent grade Power stones benefit much less than Knowledge). In example a Sorcerer with +7 Knowledge Narakkali set will be pushing 6k Magic Boost and over 1k Critspell (cap values in Narakkali), while a Physical class with Power +7 manastones will miss around 80 Attack compared to Power +10. What is more, physical classes require more skill (weaving) and proper conditions (low latency) to play effectively.
- Certain magic classes like Aethertech, Gunner and Cleric by design have lower Magic Boost and require better manastones to reach cap values.
- And speaking of DPS cleric in particular, even with 4 other dedicated support classes in the alliance, players still expect you to ninja heal / res whenever those 4 dedicated supports fail to do so for whatever reason, like get caught into Frost Breath, get ghosted due to bad positioning etc... (an average of 20 or so times during a #LFG - randoms run), which means you lose alot of the time you would normally spend DPSing on healing even tho you joined the run as a DPS in the first place.
