You can afk during siege, but you won't get reward. If they make it as pre-5.x you won't get anything from afk, unless you're a robot, none plays them, easy to get rank at sieges lolz.
You will need sieges not for the hp but for the other goodies.

if I'm not mistaken, it would be the same mechanics as the old sieges of kantalon

The rewards that u get on your mail after the siege is done are:
Honor points and abys points.
Materials to upgrade from purple to red equipment
Materials to craft red equipment
Enchant stones
There is different rank rewards based on how much abys point did you get inside the fort area (for example rank1, rank2, rank3, etc)
If you have premium account (gold pack) it gives full reward, if not then it will give less, for example rank1 with gold pack its 300 honor and without its 200.
All rank rewards gives all the stuff, just different amound.
Tip: dont sell the materials to craft red equipment at the begining, save them for about 2-3 week and you will not regret it. -

There is two sets, the craft method and the upgrade method.

The best its the upgrade one, and you need to make +15 yellow set in order to be able to upgrade it into purple, then make it +15 in order to be able to upgrade it into red, then finaly make it +15.
The craft method is just about spending kinah and do 3 crit, you need yellow crit, then purple crit, then red crit.
Purple crit crafted equals to yellow upgrade, red crit crafted equals to purple upgrade, its not exactly like that, but very close.
Dont get confused with the regular stats, the pvp stat is what really matters.
Im not sure 100% but if i have to bet, i will say full yellow +15 its better than full purple crafted+15

I dont think there is any benefit of being part of a big legion besides the 10% exp you have when there is 10 people online.

I was not part of the guild that had the fort tho, so cant tell if in that particular case you have benefits. -

So, monday, wednesday, friday and 'Saturday' nights.
I miss good old times when we had morning & night sieges. I can't do night sieges as I have to put my kids to sleep at those times and like me quite a few people can't do nights either, so we had good fights in the morning ones ...
Any other way to get the stuff to upgrade gear that is not doing sieges? (ingame...) I fear I'll upgrade my gear in 2020 -
