Lag spikes

Since about 20:00 CEST I'm having random lag spikes. No other web service having lag for me, only Aion.

Ping to Google:

Showing no issues.

My voice to Discord never disconnects during the spikes.

However pinging inside Aion shows this:

Loss of packets can be observed, but only for Aion.

- I have good fiber connection
- I don't have 3rd party anti-virus and firewall software
- Issue present with and without Aion Ping as well
- No VPN is used
- No torrent, other bandwidth hungry program used
- It appears packet loss can be observed for other Aion servers as well
- Tried to ping other online games, everything checks out 100%
- Provider: UPC

Im having the same issue since 2 days ago. 60 ping, and suddenly this:

Game doesn´t disconnect.

Didn't had disconnects yesterday, today morning:

Did further testing on the morning for few minutes, lag is now not present besides this DC. Let's see what happens today evening at same time.

GameForge services always have packet loss and severe network restrictions to save money (example: the GameForge launcher's network connection is restricted to 1mbps in my country).

I wouldn’t wonder if they limited Aion traffic down to like one of their browser games.

Using traceroute would give more information.... ping is useless. There could be a routing problem between you and gameforge's servers. Lack fo packet loss or your stable ping on discord doesnt proove its gameforge's fault.

Funny how the PTS had no issues or lag spykes for me, we get to live servers and it all goes to crap.

I have the same problem for whole week.. I thought is was my internet.. I checked network connection, make ping tests, Internet speed, optimize my pc.. but still have freezeng lags.. now I'm happy that I'm not alone and understand that it is GF servers problem and not from my side... :rolleyes:

Two days ago I came to this same issue:

Even when everything else is running and working fine (had traceroute open to check after a while of these issues):

The game "froze" for like 3-8 seconds. Then again moved back to normal. This could happen like every 5-10 minutes.

I thought it was my connection first, but looking at traceroute history, there was no packetloss or ping spikes.

And hearing that many got this issue sometimes also, I dont think it has anything to do with our connections.

Had a talk about friend who works with servers etc. said that it can be included on the amount of people logged in during the server, since some servers can seperate players on "different routes" at the login or servers and one of those routes could be having issues.

The PTS server also works more smoothly than the live servers for the reason that your internet connection is not hard throttled by gameforge to their PTS servers, while towards the live servers it is.

The next "lucky" player should post some traceroute information if lags start to occur. I'm without problems now for a while, but seems like others are ont.
