Blade and Soul is an Esports game, or at least was.

Aion is not.

Why it's not you ask? No one knows.

I don't think that's an easy thing to do. Also Aion is made in CryEngine afaik and the successor to that is Amazon Lumberyard.

That name made me laugh and then i googled it and turns out it's a real engine.

BnS got released after Aion and getting Engine Update before Aion. Aion won’t ever see an engine update.

please, don't take rumors as facts. there is nowhere in the bns community any source for this, only some rumor that started when the new mobile games were presented last month, which include 2 bns mobile games which uses ue4. from there it started some other rumors and wishful thinking.

and ue3->ue4 is not an argument. it's far from being easy to port a game from ue3 to ue4. even more when the engine used by ncsoft is heavily modified (read as butchered down) by ncsoft to work with a mmo. so the difference between ue3 and ue4 is further incompatible in ncsoft games.

i can give the example of lineage 2. it was released in 2003 and used ue2 (2.5). today in 2018 it's still the same engine with only updated shaders and textures. imagine how many rumors and wishful thinking i've read in all these years about upgrading to ue3.

as someone mentioned, aion is using cryengine. an engine that is nowhere present in other ncsoft game. their standard of developing is unrealengine. so upgrading the engine means pretty much making another game in the case of aion.

aion is just a side project at this point...
